Off the beaten track
It doesn't always have to be alpine skiing or snowboarding. The most beautiful winter experiences are often found off the slopes. Around Hotel Montafoner Hof, there are countless opportunities to immerse yourself in the mountains. Over 290 kilometers of prepared winter hiking trails, many of them illuminated.
To, as we say here, “efach amol drwil ho” – simply having time. Time for yourself, in nature, precious moments with your loved ones. Breathe deeply, pause, and hear how quiet it can be up here.

With our alpine guides, you will find the most beautiful winter hiking routes through untouched landscapes. The guides will also show you the technique if you are snowshoeing for the first time.
Our tip: We provide snowshoes free of charge. Modern, lightweight sports equipment. And by the way, you don’t need to be a fitness miracle. A certain looseness (also in the legs) never hurts, though. That is a given here anyway, by nature, so to speak.
A very special experience awaits on the Silvretta-Bielerhöhe. Take the Vermuntbahn to the mountain station, from where tunnel buses take you through the Vermunt tunnel to over 2,000 meters. At the top, a breathtaking winter backdrop awaits, surrounded by the mighty three-thousand-meter peaks of the Silvretta. Piz Buin – namesake of a world-famous brand – is even reflected in the lake when there is no wind. And in fine weather: don’t forget the sunscreen.

The circular tour starts in the center of Silbertal. Via Schulweg and Innertalstraße, the route leads to the “Felsa” waypoint, continuing via “Wüarri” and “Burgkopf” back to the center. A firm, short path without major technical requirements – ideal for beginners and families.

Bartholomäberg records the most hours of sunshine in Montafon – it has truly earned its nickname “Sun Balcony.” Start in the village, up via Chrestlis Egg and Worms, continue to the Goritschang crossroads to the Rellseck viewpoint (approx. 1,494 m). Return via Linda. Refreshments available at Rellseck.

From Rellseck onwards, the ascent to Fritzensee is significantly more athletic. Depending on snow conditions, this section requires good sure-footedness. In return, you get: snow-covered mountain landscapes, an idyllic lake, and views for which every meter of altitude is worth it.
Head up to the sun terraces of the ski areas, even without skis: The Sun Subscription (from 3 days) allows for the cost-effective use of buses and mountain railways. Sun loungers and blankets included. Valid throughout the entire Montafon-Brandnertal ski association.
After a hike in the snow, the indoor pool, outdoor pool, fitness room, and sauna area await. Muscles regenerate best with a soothing massage. In the evening, enjoy a drink at the hotel bar or in front of the crackling fireplace in the hotel lounge. Or challenge someone to a game of chess at the Montafon game table.
Since 1987, we, the host family Tschohl and our team, have been ensuring that you feel completely at home with us at all times.
