Sustainability isn't just a label we stick on ourselves. It's an attitude we've inherited from our ancestors. From a time when nothing was wasted because everything had value. That's why we manage with what the Montafon gives us: wood from our own forest, electricity from the valley's hydropower, and quality products from people we know by name.
What does that mean in practice? Preserving the things that make the Montafon special: the clear air, the pure water, the sense of community in the valley. Out of respect for our home. And guests are welcome to join in: if you'd like to skip room cleaning, just hang our "Green Bag" on the door – we'll fill it with a small token of appreciation.

Heat and power from the mountains
Heating is wood-fired, electricity comes from hydropower.
Our heat and hot water are supplied by the nearby heating plant using wood chips from the region. The wood for this grows in the surrounding forests. We source our electricity from Vorarlberger Illwerke, generated from the hydropower of the very mountains and streams you see right outside our door. And in everyday life? We clean with biodegradable products as much as possible and save on packaging wherever we can. Many small steps that add up.

Local materials, from local craft businesses.
When you stay with us, you are sleeping in the Montafon in the truest sense of the word. Stone pine, wild oak, natural stone, sheep’s wool – the materials in our rooms, suites, and apartments have origins that are usually only a few kilometers away. A large part of the wood comes from our own forests; the mountain houses, for example, are made from local spruce. Everything is processed by craft businesses in the valley. This keeps the value creation where it belongs: right here in our region.

You can taste the love for good products. Our food comes from the Montafon and the surrounding area, from farmers we know personally. The meat is supplied by our local butcher, and the game comes from our own hunt and neighboring territories. In both our award-winning restaurant and the Gasthof Löwen, we serve what the region provides: Sura Kees, Montafon milk-fed veal and alpine pork, Montafon veal bratwurst, and to finish, an apple schnapps or fruit brandy, home-distilled from fruit from our own orchard.
Arrive without weighing on nature
By train into the valley, and car-free on-site.
You’re welcome to leave your car at home. With the Montafonerbahn, you can reach Tschagguns every half hour. We’ll be happy to pick you up from the station. In summer, you can get anywhere without your own car: rental mountain bikes and scooters are available for free, and e-bikes for a small fee. In winter, our in-house ski bus takes you directly to the lift stations. Good for the environment, relaxing for you.
